Miracle on the Mountain: Colorado Hikers Rescue the Lost Service Dog

Colorado Hikers Rescue the Lost Service Dog named Nova, who is a 14-month-old who went missing 2 months back and was finally found alive by Colorado hikers on a mountain trail just before Thanksgiving. Nova the Bernese mountain dog was spotted by the hikers at Meyers Ranch Park on Nov 19th without her owner by her side.

But rescuing Nova wasn’t easy as she feared they would harm her, she bit one of the hikers who tried to carry her and get her down the mountain safely. They also tried to befriend the injured dog, however, she was too scared.

The Colorado hikers didn’t give up on the dog despite the bites. One of the hikers stayed with the dog while the other descended the mountain to look for some medical help.

They also called the Sheriffs for help who trailed up the mountain along with the animal control officers and brought Nova down safely.

Incidentally, Nova’s owner had put up a ‘missing pet’ poster in a park over a month ago, and the ranger remembered seeing that poster and knew Nova would be the pet. So, her owner was immediately called for a meet-up at the trailhead.

Nova was carried safely down the mountain trail and was reunited with her owner.
During these 2 months, she had suffered a broken leg. However, now Nova is taking good rest and might undergo surgery for her leg.
Nova’s owner said that her pet survived 2 deadly snowstorms and insane temperatures. She later thanked the hikers for their brave acts and the kindness they showed to a lost pet.
